When will peace come among us? The only answer to war is love, there is no other answer. Politics and religion have proven they in themselves have no reply to war for our present and future good. Do we trust killing more than loving? death more than life? We must face the war within ourselves, and the war deities we have created, or there will never be peace in our world. We must each choose to be the peace we want to see in this world; we each must cultivate peace in our connections with others, even those who choose to see themselves as our enemies. Where does world peace begin? Here. When? Now. Simply love, as best you know how, and even when you do not know how be love anyway. Today, I walked among those dying, some looking more like skeletons stretched over their beds than human beings. They are prisoners. Who cares? What could I do? Walk among them, speak to them, trusting love, trusting peace, that possibly I could be a means of some light in such a dark place, a presence of Grace in such an apparently graceless place. Do I, do we, know how to love? be love? Possibly, a good beginning is to say, "No, we don't." Peace begins with me, for love begins with me, even in the face of death, even among those who hate. I choose not to trust hate or killing. I choose to trust love and life. I choose to say, Together We Can... for a better way than hate, than killing, than young men and women, aged and children, losing limb and life. We created a world in this mess, we can create a world in peace and cooperation, if we choose. We cannot afford to choose for anything less.
